Unicorn Construction are seeking a Groundworker / Groundworks ganger.
Responsible for overseeing the groundworks & landscaping works on our projects to be completed professionally, to the agreed specification and within programme.
You will report directly to our sites Working Foremen and you will be supported not only by the Working Foreman, but also by our Project Support Administrator, our Design Manager and commercially by our Senior Quantity Surveyor.
It will be your responsibility to co-ordinate deliveries of materials , specialist contractors and all logistics associated with the delivery of the groundworks & landscaping packages for our secured projects, located within 45 minutes of our Newton Abbot office hub.
You will be expected to set out from drawings and site datums. Allow to undertake all of the following:-
- Reduce level excavation works, excavation and concreting of strip / pad footings and underpinning works. To include planning and organizing the cartaway of excavated materials from our sites.
- Installation of all below ground drainage to include inspection chambers, aco’s and drainage gullies, attenuation systems soakaways and public drainage connection works.
- Installation of ground bearing slabs and precast floor slabs including floor prep works, with good experience of concrete finishing works being essential.
- Loading out and co-ordination of masonry trades for substructure block / brick & stoneworks.
- Experience of installation of kerb edgings and various hardlandscaping works to include slabbing works with both concrete slabs and porcelain slabs / block paving works / Tarmac works. If you have Resinbound surfacing experience this would be advantageous but not essential.
- Experience of undertaking works and reinstatement works on the public highway to include service installation works and drop kerbs would be advantageous.
You would be expected to work alongside, manage and co-ordinate a small directly employed team groundworkers to successfully deliver these works.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
We are seeking an individual with extensive groundworks experience of all aspects of the trade. Capable, willing and able to push the job forwards on the ground as well as by operating the machinery necessary. You must be experienced at managing a small team, with good planning / organisation and communication skills to get the best out of the team. You must be keen to lead by example.
Being able to work efficiently, in accordance with challenging programmes but accurately, being key to the skills needed to be successful in this role.
PERSONAL QUALITIES:
You must be commercially aware, hard working, work well under pressure whilst ensuring a good eye for detail in the work that you produce, be self motivated and organized.
